The Fountain of the Lions or "Lions" is one of the central parts of the city. It is well known except by locals and foreigners. The fountain was built in 1628 by General Provisioner Francesco Morosini to help supply water to the city, which suffered from water scarcity.
The Printing Museum is located in Chania, just outside the town, in Craft Park Souda Bay and a vision of life founder,Yannis Gieredaki, founder and publisher of the journal "Haniotika Nea".
The house he lived in, where he wrote and died, after being destroyed by the WWII bombardments, was later restructured and still exists to this day. In Solomos’s house, the Company of Corfu Studies founded the Centre for Solomos Studies, which operates as “Solomos Museum”.
