The Museum, Pellas is located in the southeast of the foothills of the hill palace, in the northeastern part of archeological site
Provided the visitor through texts, photographs, maps, plans and a large model of the archaeological site the necessary elements for acquaintance with the Pella.
The visitor will welcome the exhibition area two major findings, Pellas and, more generally, the Macedonian area, associated with the Alexander C: a marble head considered portrait of Alexander THIRD and a marble statuette, which shows characteristics of God Pana.
The Acropolis hill was the site for the most important and glamorous temple of the ancient city, dedicated to Athena, the protector godess of the city. This sacred site is connected to the most important myths of ancient Athens, the great religious ceremonies.
The exhibits of the museum are very important, and consist of sculptures from Livadeia and Cheronea, ceramics from prehistoric and historic locations around Cheronea, Elateia,coins and weapons from the Tomb of Macedonians and the mass graves of Thebians in Cheronea.
Matala with its beautiful long sandy beach,fine gravel and crystal clear deep water and the carved caves in the rocks,home for the famous Hippies back in ‘60s Matala beach festival takes place every year in June in order to keep the myth of Hippies alive!
