The Museum Visual Arts Heraklion (M E. T..) was founded in May 2000 by K . Σχιζάκη.
Aims to be a welcoming place for every citizen , a concentration and fruitful conciliation creators, of art lovers and friends, designated development spirit of solidarity, cooperation and solidarity, but also intellectual and aesthetic cultivation, training and entertainment. In this direction are planned the organization of training and educational seminars and conferences on matters artistic creation, conferences, concerts, seminars, publications, while the space will be offered for reports visual arts collections exchanges, cooperation with other private or public museums in national and European level.
In the hope this effort to embrace the public of Heraklion, the space opens with the report works Kriton artists Collection K. Sxizaki, introductory report the basic part of the assets of the M.E. T. H.
Objectives – The purpose of the Museum
The Museum Visual Arts Heraklion is involved in publishing information books, brochures, results of studies as well as participate in research programs and in any activity which promotes directly or indirectly the purposes of:
Support all cultural and artistic activity, and in particular the promotion and strengthening of visual arts.
The view of the work of the Cretans, to protect artists and the promotion of their presence at local, national and European level.
The emergence and the rescue of works of authors Cretan origin.
The cooperation with other museums, at local, national and European level.
The co-operation with member states of the European Union to participate in European programs and bodies for the promotion of common objectives, exchange of information, ideas and experience.
The organization retrospective reports significant Neo Greek artists.
The organization research, training and educational seminars and conferences on artistic creation.
The monographs and lists reports artists.
