In 1927, the first Delphi Celebrations were organized by Aggelos and Eva Sikelianou. The poet visualized an international centre, where a «league of select few» will meet, just as in ancient times, in order to ease the controversies between nations and to ensure global and permanent peace (Delphic Idea).
The Fountain of the Lions or "Lions" is one of the central parts of the city. It is well known except by locals and foreigners. The fountain was built in 1628 by General Provisioner Francesco Morosini to help supply water to the city, which suffered from water scarcity.
The Archaeological Museum of Lemnos is in Myrina, at the location Romeikos Gialos. The exhibition aims to letting the visitor follow, through the exhibits and the visual material, the history of Lemnos from the Copper era to the Middle Ages, and to understand the island’s importance in the wider area of North Aegean Sea.
