Loutro is a picturesque fishing village in the Sfakia prefecture, accessible via boat from Sfakia. Its’ isolation is due to a steep cliff that rises right behind it, interrupting communication with the neighbouring villages. In fact, communication with the neighbouring Sfakia is only possible with the boat that doew the trip Sfakia-Loutro-Agia Roumeli.

The paleontological collection of the Municipality of Rethymnon, which consists of findings from excavations from all over the prefecture by German scientist Siegfired Kuss (University of Freiburg), will form the basis of the exhibition.
